April 23, 2011 – Training Run
Posted by Al Jameson on Apr 27, 2011 in April 2011 | 0 comments | 283 viewsSo I was on a mini vacation to visit my girlfriend as of yesterday in Atlanta, but the training doesn’t take a vacation. Atlanta, for those that have never been, is very hilly, and I was worried about finding a route that fit my needs. I decided on a shopping center parking lot that was pretty big and the timing worked out because my girlfriend needed to do some shopping. My GPS app on my phone wasn’t working because it was quite cloudy, so I just decided to do about 40 minutes. I traced the whole outer edge of the parking lot, going behind the major stores and then around the front edge of parking all the way around. One loop took about 11 minutes, so I did 3 loops in 37 minutes and called it quits. The jog felt amazing. I went my longest distance before beginning to walk, 16 minutes. The rest was a jog/walk as usual with extended walks, but I probably could have cut those down because I had tremendous energy. I slowed it down a bit because my form was getting bad as I have a tendency to lean forward when I get tired and sloppy. Knowing that bad form leads to injuries, I kept a slower pace and consciously worked on my form. I measured the distance afterwards with a car, and each loop was almost a mile, keeping me on pace to do my 3.2 miles in under 40 minutes. My goal is 37 minutes for the whole 3.2 miles, so just under a 12 minute mile.
In my email newsletter, I announced my first triathlon, and got two additional sponsors. Max Jameson is the author of Passage to Paradise, a popular Persian novel translated into English. Malcolm Chatham promotes healthy lifestyles through optimized water known as Kangen Water. He will be supplying me with this water for my training and I will be blogging about my experience with the water as I train so stay tuned. If you would like to be a sponsor, just click the chip in link at the top left of my website, www.infintewellnesschiro.com, and I will add you to my sponsor list and promote you in my newsletter, on Facebook, and on my website as well.
